THE MYSTERY OF THE LOST COLOR IN HOKO
You know we have four stores, and since they have many conversations with you, they see what you like and what you don't, and they write down all your comments in their minds and insistently give voice to what they see as most important to you.
Well we could say that the request that takes the podium, the race and the pole position is
MORE COLORFUL PLEASE!
But not in a subtle way, but in a brutal way, because navy, blue, and red are all very nice, but their retinas are going to melt if they have to continue seeing only those colors one more day.
And they're right, we're also tired of the same old colors. The obstacle? The reason? Polypropylene! It has its good points and its bad points. We know the good points: durability, technicality, and the fact that it's amazing in terms of sensations for the wearer. Another good thing you might not know is that it's the fiber that uses the least water in its manufacture.
Yes, it uses very little water because, unlike other fibers, it is dyed by adding the dye to the mass before extruding it to create the yarn. The other fibers work the same way we do when we want to dye something at home: we add the dye to water and submerge the fabric or yarn in the liquid to absorb the color.
That's why you can wash a new red pinku with your favorite white sheets and we can guarantee that it won't run.
And what does this have to do with the limited color range we handle at Hoko? Well, to create a new color, we have to buy yarn in that color, and the minimum purchase is three tons. When we create fabrics from scratch, we buy many different gauges of yarn to achieve different effects of softness, elegance, or insulation, and we combine these to create the final fabric. So imagine how much we have to multiply 300 by for each model—crazy!
What would be the "normal" method, the one everyone else uses? Well, they buy the raw threads or fabrics and then dye them in whatever colors they need.
And what has been the solution? Well, it has come from two places.
On the one hand, and as always, more and more of you are trusting Hoko, which allows us to be bold and incorporate new colors because we can create more volume.
And on the other hand, we've been more daring with the mix, so you can tell us if we've gone a little overboard or if you like it.
The point is, there's no turning back now because we loved it and we want to do it even more!
We hope you like it too ;)
